Background: Born Michael Vincent Metz in Detroit Michigan. Coming from a family of artists, he began private art studies at the age of 8 in St. Clair Shores, Michigan per the direction of his Grandmother on his father's side, who was the chief artist of their clan. He proceeded with art studies through an additional 8 years of grade school and then another 4 years during high school opting for all art-based electives and creative study groups.
His Grandmother was a major influence in his creative passions, always encouraging him to see what was not evident, and inspiring him to look beyond the immediate.
Trained originally in the medium of charcoal and pastels, his studies later evolved to include: watercolor, acrylic, oil, pencil, graphite, ink and mixed mediums. Photography and digital media studies were added to the latter part of his training.
Areas of concentration were Art History, Light & Color Theory, Perspective, and Technique.
Preferred styles include: surrealism, abstract, and traditional. Influences along the way: M.C.Escher, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso
In April of 2001 he moved to New York City to pursue his dream of doing art full time. He currently resides and works in Brooklyn.
